directed by Kathleen Amshoff

"The reality is, horrible things happen in fairy tales."

A story about a girl, a castle, her loves and... of course... some red shoes.

Disney melds with funk; Grimm plays out to a hip new soundtrack in Vacant Lot's latest production.   Mining the vocabularies of modern dance, theatrical movement and pantomime to tell the story of “The Girl”, Sibley’s stream-of–conscious narrative references The Red Shoes, Cinderella, The Frog Prince and other tales in the half-remembered, personalized and embellished style.

Born of a Fairytale debuted before sold-out audiences at the 2009 Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC, the one-woman show heralded as “A Hidden Gem” is given new life by Vacant Lot with a new actress, Thea Brooks, and new director, Kathleen Amshoff.
